BIG PLANS FOR A BIG LIFE

If you want to have a big life, you have to make big plans, design your own big dreams and dream bigger dreams than people think are possible achieving!  Life isn’t a trial and error process, it’s in the execution of purposeful living.  If you persist that it is only filled with obstacles and occlusions, then guess what?  That’s what you’ll encounter each and every step of the way!  When you see the inability to achieve something easily as a minor inconvenience which forces you to amend your journey for the better, then you will already be miles ahead of where you would have been before!  Live with purpose, with an insistence that even bumps in the road will serve to take you to a better place in the roadway.  Don’t just be a reactionary, waiting to follow the ups and downs of life, instead, be a leader of your own life by purposefully pursuing dreams and goals!

The hardest thing to give up on is a dream.  Why should we then?  The short answer, we never should, not if we truly desire that which we’ve dreamt!  Well some of us give up on them when we get frustrated from too much time ticking off life’s clock, or too much pressure from our family or friends convinces us we are not worthy or able to achieve a dream. Sometimes dreams seem so impossible when we are sitting in our current position, maybe we’ve been beaten down and have so much trepidation about ever reaching the stars!  If you don’t aim for the outermost limits of the space around you, then you will never know how far you are capable of going!

Never letting a dream die is the best advice to give a friend who is struggling these days, no matter how they perceive their future.  If they truly aspire to achieve something, no matter how seemingly big nor small, then they should never give up on the accomplishment of that dream! Never let yourself be let down by life.  We may not see the timing as being favorable to our schedule, but it may be just the timing to allow us to accomplish the best, the most and the greatest! We need to know life is still hopeful and encouraging . . . we need to believe in our ideas, our concepts, our beliefs, our aspirations.  We need to know life is ours for the making!

PATIENCE . . .NOW PLEASE!

In the quest for one trait which would serve me better than others, I would ask for patience, in far greater measure than I have it, nor know it now!  I am a “work in progress” when it comes to patience . . always seeking more, always hoping I will strengthen that “gene”.

When it comes to me growing older, my most depleted characteristic, which plummets in direct relationship to the escalation of my age, is my patience.  I don’t know as if this can be scientifically proven, but I believe, in my own theory, my impatience is related to the sense of entitlement some of us start to feel with age!  In other words, I’ve waited so long for things in life, that to wait any longer, at this age, is torment!

How do I learn to improve my level of patience or supplement it somehow?  Or perhaps I need to temper my impatience for life’s situations, which obviously have an impact upon my ability to be patient, thus sensoring my own reactions?  Which sounds more plausible at this age?  Possibly neither!  I’m here to tell you, I want it all and I want it all now!

Does this sound like you?  I’ve a feeling it is a familiar chime from many these days.  We are afterall, a “gotta have it now society” . . . we don’t want to wait.  Couple that with tough economic times, a few personal mishaps and a crisis or two, and then add that to our instantaneous world, where we are encouraged by marketers and media to have what we want and never wait.  It’s serving no good for mankind in general that we are packaging all of life with this desire to have things five minutes ago.  Somewhere we’ve forgotten that we once waited eagerly weeks for snail-mail, sat by the telephone for the line to clear to speak to our dears, and had to be put on waiting lists for things we desired instead of standing in line or just ordering it online, or even finding so much available in our neighborhood stores!

Anyway, here’s my plan now, I am impatient, there’s no immediate cure . . and in this moment, I’ve something else to do, so I must finish this for now and seek my peace through other endeavors!  🙂

LEARNING AS I GO

LEARNING AS I GO

Life is a process, you can dream about your whole life, plan it out in minute detail even, following your own set course, up until the time that life happens for real.  When life intrudes on how we are living, we must make a detour, we must set our course to new geographical coordinates, and find a new direction suitable for our amended goals.  All of us are learning as we go, we are taking our cues from what happens to us as we proceed, and when we are confronted by things which we must correct in our plan, we have no choice but to redirect, reconfigure and reconnect our internal hard-wiring to be accepting of newness and variation.  Life is a learning process, the minute you stop learning, you are either dead or on your way.  There is no way to limit the inevitability of life challenging us, making us hopefully rise, and not fall to each occasion, demanding from us a certain level of participation.  Life is not a spectator sport!
Life requires your constant involvement, each day is a rude awakening of the unexpected, combined with the planned, all to make us expectant and surprised, in a fabulous match of emotional internal ping pong.  This is the trick of life, it isn’t ever what you assume it should or would be, it is always a mix of upsets swirling together with the planned.  There is never a time when we aren’t feeling something from a new source, or experiencing a different situation requiring us to look for navigational help.  Even when we share an experience with another human being, the way we deal with it, feel about it, and internalize the situation will always be uniquely our own.  No one else can ever know exactly how it feels to be us. That being said, perhaps we should learn to just go with the flow more often, as life will always take us for a ride, give us a thrill and leave us wondering why things cannot remain constant and steady a while, or just more often!

How do we learn to let it ride?  Well, the older I get, the more I realize I don’t know about life, and its limitless potential to leave me dazed and confused.  Life is definitely a thrill-ride of surprise, shock, and less often, same-old, same-old.  I admit to being a fan of the routine, the usual, the constant, but the reality of life very rarely permits me to wallow comfortably in that state of being.  Life is rarely that “perpetually” anything, there are usually mishaps, snags, snafus, and dramas often causing unrest all at the same time.  The most important quality to have in life, as my burgeoning wisdom has taught me, is a sense of faith, unwielding and constant.  These most important qualities, hope eternal, faith constant and patience without end must reside perpetually within me.  That’s how you learn to live through life.  Love is a given if you are healthy and in touch with your spirit, but having those other qualities to tether you to the mast, assuring that you are going to find your way through, no matter the storm, is essential to your sense of victory in this life.   Life will shock you, it will lull you in to a sense of false security, thinking there are rhythms of calm and comfort ahead, then “pow”, along comes the first shock!  From that moment on, the only way to respond is to move out of the reaction mode and into the action mode, give up the “victim’s” role and learn to be a conqueror, as you go!

EVEN ONE BLESSING MAKES YOU BLESSED

You needn’t wait upon a sea of blessings to consider yourself blessed!  You are blessed and should feel thankful even if there is just one thing today, right now, that you can consider a blessing.  Although, I would dare you to muse further and realize the others!

Look at your life, did you wake up anew today?  Then you are blessed.  Did you share a greeting, exchange some words of love, compassion, or warmth with another living soul?  Then you are blessed.  Did you witness something in nature which made you smile, which warmed your spirit, or which possibly reminded you of the awesome power of a universe so much greater than your own?  Then you are blessed.  Did you eat breakfast?  Did you find food and something to take in to enrich your body this morning?  Then you are blessed.  Did you have clothing to put on your body and shoes for your feet?  Then you are blessed.  I could go on and on . . but I think you get the message.  Most of us are quite blessed, even much more than just once a day!  How many of us really see all the ways which we are blessed and are thankful for those many blessings?

Life’s greatest joy is in learning to appreciate all the richness of blessings we receive, including love; experiencing beauty; knowing joy, feeling wellness of body, mind and spirit; learning things; having relationships with others; tasting the fruits of the earth’s bounty; and living full, productive lives, not to mention God and the Holy Spirit.  Being thankful is the key to realizing how rich you are in life.  Most of us have so many reasons to celebrate life each day if we just choose to become focused on blessings, to see them, to know them in our lives.  Don’t miss the chance to alter your life by experiencing gratitude each day.  There are always things to be grateful for, in and about!  You are blessed, never waiver a day feeling ungrateful and without blessings.  If you take a magnifying lens to your life, you will notice in great detail, the many ways in which you were blessed today!

SHINING FOR NO REASON

SHINING FOR NO REASON

If you haven’t realized it lately, you don’t have to have a reason to celebrate being you, you just have to be you, you don’t need to do anything nor be anything but just be you!  Too many times, we convince ourselves that we must accomplish things to applaud ourselves, to acknowledge our worth, or to give ourselves accolades.  We needn’t, we don’t have to have any reason.  Just being is reason enough . . . that’s what is called, shining for no reason!
When was the last time that you just realized how fabulous you were, without having a reason?  When was the last time you looked in the mirror, noticing something beautiful, attractive, well-formed, or special about yourself?  When did you last compliment yourself for something you did well?  When was the most recent time you felt really special in your own skin?  If these aren’t registering on any memory scale, and seem unlikely reminders for any recent behavior, then you need to re-examine your own self-nurturing.  You are not giving yourself enough praise.  Why is it so natural for most of us to give these kind of comments and compliments to others, including our close friends and family, our loved ones, but for ourselves, we are unable to think so highly?  If you aren’t able to see the God-given near-perfection of the person who looks back at you every time you look in a mirror, then you aren’t going to be able to hear the compliments of others, nor to feel the level of self-appreciation necessary to have a complete, happy, fulfilled life.  Loving yourself means that you see your own beauty, appreciate your own unique qualities, and cherish the “house” which contains the spirit and soul of your life.

Does loving yourself and appreciating your inner and outer qualities mean that you are vain?  Sometimes, yes.  But there is a healthy level of self-love which most of us should have, that we often deny because we think it is selfish to be able to see our own good qualities and traits.  Nurturing ourselves requires that we learn to respect our entire person, body, mind and spirit.  It also means that we can have moments of appreciation, far from selfishness or narcissism, when we see the beauty of our own creation.  We are afterall, one-of-a-kind works of art, designed and formed by God in His own image.
Too many people suffer from low esteem, poor self-images and lagging self-worth instead of narcissism and inflated senses of self.  In this present-day world, we are beaten down, battered and savaged by the media, the public, degraded by the onslaught of what we presume we should be in our competitive world, we lose our sense of self.  So, in lieu of having a crew of cheerleaders and enthusiastic fans on our beckon call, we must learn to prop ourselves up when life takes us down.  That is why I propose that you always include in your daily routine, a generous helping of self-love.

What does this entail?  It just means, that each and every day, you should remember to celebrate your own wonderful and unique qualities, cease putting yourself down, give your thanks to God for whatever compliments your receive, as all that you are, you’ve gotten from Him, and never hesitate to be your own best supporter and promoter!  If you don’t love yourself, support your own life and your endeavors, and see yourself as a valuable human being, then you will never be able to give love to others, support others in life with their endeavors, and value other human beings appropriately.  To love yourself, is to know that you are a beautiful child of God!  Repeat after me . . . I love myself, and I am a beautiful child of God!

Life Is Like A Classroom

Life Is Like A Classroom

Life is like a classroom, our daily tests – those things which happen to us by choice & by randomness. Each day we wake begins the day of testing, much like in school, we just have a much bigger & more expansive classroom & arena for learning. Some things on our tests we’re prepared for, we know what to do. Other things are just “out of the blue” & leave us guessing for ways to respond so that we can do our best to make it through the test. We don’t like to view life like a vast classroom, somehow we assume the end of school days means the end of this whole process of our learning & then having to prove we know what we’ve learned, but it is surely our task to pick up where we leave off as adolescents & continue the process right up until the day we pass.

It never stops, so we cannot stop either . . we must continue to learn, to grow, to seek knowledge, to make better choices, to avail ourselves of all the benefits of life lessons so that we make for ourselves a better life. When viewed thusly, we realize our goal is to pass each lesson, to learn & to grow. When we look to the lessons as necessary teachers enabling us to learn sufficiently to advance us to some higher level of wisdom, knowledge & understanding, then they become positive parts of our daily experiences, we advance with each one learned instead of remaining where we are!

Definitive’s In Life

Definitive’s In Life

Lately I’ve had some reminders of definitive’s in life, taking delight in watching a young girl discover misters in Phoenix, her pleasure in the feeling of the cool light spray of water as it hit her skin all while she laughed with such sheer joy! On the plane, I watched a small child celebrate the flow of air coming out of the overhead vent as it blew her hair about. The last few days seeing children & adults find their inner youthful exuberance reborn through play in the water, on ziplines, in all sorts of endeavors meant to ignite their sense of exploration, their desire to find joy in tasting life!

I am reminded that life is to be lived to the fullest & I feel sorrow for those who are unable to find simple pleasure in places even common & even the simplest things, for our joy is found within, it comes from a place inside which knows how to be a child at the right times, but also how to connect with that inner spirit of joy at surprising moments within our days! No matter your place, if you are not finding joy in your days, you’re not feeling it first within!

What Used To Be Best

What Used To Be The Best

Sometimes in life, what was once the best thing becomes the most painful. What once gave you joy now brings you sorrow, what was once your shining time is now your memory, what once brought you so much contentment & peace now makes you fearful & filled with doubt. It is inevitable that we will experience events which are capable of altering our perspective, but it always up to us as to how we react in the long term. If we realize that something good became something bad, then surely we can see how something bad can then again become something better! Look at the aspects of how you can learn from every scenario, making the most of the moments of reflection in the change, then seize upon the wealth of that lesson & move forward knowing that all will once again be changing. Life events are like the changing currents of wind in the sails of a sailboat . . we need to be flexible, we need to appraise our position upon the prevailing conditions & we need to be able to adapt as best as we can to what we encounter! Then we need to proceed into life with expectation & faith!

Future

Bridges

There are bridges which are torn down & roadways which do get dismantled between our todays & our yesterdays. Maybe that is ok, as it keeps us from backtracking & trespassing where we surely didn’t belong in the first place. If the bridge or road had been the best choice for us, they would have led us exactly where we hoped to go! Don’t dread the deconstruction of some parts of your past, for that will truly save you from reliving & rehashing old mistakes & old wounds.

It’s the future which beckons in a present which is calling you to wake up & live in the here & now! What bridges & roads are before you & where might they take you today? All of those memories live within us for a good reason, we aren’t meant to focus on them in the real world! Move forward into your today, letting the bridges & roadways you have had to tear down signify only one thing to you – your future lies in a different direction! Go that way instead of looking back!! And never be afraid to tear down the vestiges of impassable ways in your own life . . they’ve been made quite overtly that way for a reason!

Fruits of the Spirit

Love, joy, faithfulness, self-control, gentleness, patience, kindness, peace & goodness are the fruits of our spirit given to us by God in  ample measure. He just wants us to take these fruits & develop a character of consistency in our ability to reflect these fruits in our daily lives.

A great message today by Joyce Meyer! Our “job” is to be the fullness of all these things in every aspect of our lives! This is our task in maturing, for we then become consistent reflections of the fruits of our spirit, which is then to become most like God! We learn how to tap into these fruits as we live our lives by trial, by test, by deciding we shall build each to full strength within us. Each one of us fully filled & mature in these spirits would reflect a world of Godly people who truly are living reflections of what all that means! Imagine that world!
